Romania's 2014 euro aim achievable- cbank head

BUCHAREST, Oct 6 (Reuters) - Romania can still meet its goal of adopting the euro in 2014 as planned, even though meeting the single currency zone's budget deficit targets will be a challenge, central bank governor Mugur Isarescu said on Tuesday.

Speaking during parliamentary hearings ahead of a vote to reappoint him for another term, Isarescu also said the country's government crisis was 'not desirable' but had not 'discouraged' the central bank so far.

'In the near term, the biggest challenge for Romania will not be inflation, but cutting the budget deficit from levels of around 7-8 percent of gross domestic product,' Isarescu said.
