Romania stats body delays Q1 GDP details to June 9

BUCHAREST, June 1 (Reuters) - Romania's statistics board has delayed the release of details of first quarter gross domestic product data from Tuesday to June 9, to gain more time to compute quarterly seasonally adjusted figures, it said on Monday.

From the first quarter this year, the statistics office has started releasing quarter-on-quarter figures to meet European Union standards.

The Romanian economy shrank by 6.4 percent on the year in the first quarter of 2009, more than double economists' forecasts, statisticians said on May 15, as global financial crisis trampled consumption and manufacturing.
