Romania: MFA greets the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding regarding Romania's participation to the Operation Black Sea Harmony

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs greets the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between Romanian Government and Turkish Government regarding Romania's participation to the Operation Black Sea Harmony.

Operation Black Sea Harmony (OBSH) has been launched by Turkey in March 2004, as a NATO-affiliated and developed together with the Operation "Active Endeavour" (OAE) in the Mediterranean Sea. So far, Ukraine and the Russian Federation have also concluded other participation agreements to this operation.

OBSH is the only initiative with an operational role in monitoring the maritime route and tracking / convoy of the suspect ships in order to fight against the maritime risks in the Black Sea, thus contributing to the expansion of the security and stability area of this sea.

Romania considers that through the development of this initiative a new stimulus will be given to the regional cooperation in the Black Sea region. Thus, the experience gained through other ways of cooperation on the training, confidence increase and inter-operability level shall be further capitalized.
