Romania Q1 GDP seen rising by up to 1 pct-FinMin

BUCHAREST, Feb 18 (Reuters) - Romania's economy is expected to grow by up to 1 percent in the first quarter of this year, Finance Minister Gheorghe Pogea said on Wednesday, also reaffirming a full year estimate of 2.5 percent growth.

'First quarter growth will be at maximum 1 percent,' Pogea told reporters on a sidelines of a parliament meeting debating the 2009 budget bill.

Romania's gross domestic product expanded by 9.1 percent year-on-year in the third quarter of 2008, up from 8.2 percent in the first quarter. Data for the fourth quarter are due early in March.
