Ukraine asking Romania to officially deny Russian media reports saying it allegedly shares Russia's stand on Ukraine's guilty of gas transit break

KYIV, January 15 /UKRINFORM/. Ukraine is asking Romania to officially refute Russian media reports as saying the Romanian President in his phone conversation with the Russian President on January 13 had allegedly backed Russia's stand on Ukraine's responsibility for the gas transit failure for Europe.

According to Ukraine's Deputy Foreign Minister Kostiantyn Yeliseyev, he has today spoken by phone to Romania's Ambassador to Kyiv. Traian Laurentiu Hristea refuted the reports of Russian media stressing that there was no such talk between Basescu and Medvedev. “Ukraine has therefore addressed the Romanian side asking to officially reject this report,” Yeliseyev said.

The Ukrainian diplomat stressed that Russia is waging real media war against Ukraine aimed at undermining Ukraine's reputation as a reliable transit partner.
