BUCHAREST, Jan 13 (Reuters) - Romania's annual inflation rate fell to 6.3 percent in December against November's 6.7 percent, the National Statistics Board said on Tuesday.
Prices rose 0.2 percent on the month in December, with food costs rising 0.5 percent. Non-food items were 0.5 percent down, while services rose 1.3 percent.
Analysts polled by Reuters had produced a mid-range headline inflation forecast of 6.6 percent and a month-on-month figure of 0.5 percent.
The central bank signalled concerns about inflation and a weaker leu currency after its meeting last week, when it left rates and minimum reserve requirements unchanged, bucking the regional trend of monetary easing.
Inflation ended last year well above the bank's 2.8-4.8 percent target, but it was below its forecast of 6.7 percent.
