Romanian Boc wins nomination for prime minister

BUCHAREST, Dec 15 (Reuters) - Romania's president nominated Emil Boc,
leader of the Democrat-Liberal Party (PD-L), as prime minister on Monday, after the surprise resignation of the previous candidate, Theodor Stolojan.

Boc, 42, the mayor of northwestern city of Cluj, will aim to form a government with the Social Democrats, after signing a coalition agreement between his PD-L and the leftists on Sunday.

The two historic rivals finished almost tied in last month's parliamentary election.
