Palestinian President Abbas to visit Romania

BUCHAREST, Nov. 2 (Xinhua) -- Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas will pay an official visit to Romania on Monday and Tuesday, at the invitation of President Traian Basescu, according to a Sunday news release of the Presidential Administration.

The high-level talks will refer to the development perspectives of the Romanian-Palestinian relations and the specific issues of the Middle East, said the release.

On this occasion, Abbas will also have official talks with the leaders of the Parliament's Houses.

During his visit, Abbas will brief the Romanian officials on the latest developments regarding the Middle East process and the Palestinian-Israeli negotiations. The president will rally support of the European Union against the imposed military sanctions by Israel on Palestine.

The Palestinian president will also meet with the head of the Muslim Community in Romania.
