Romania, Syria discuss cooperation in energy sector

The Romanian President Traian Basescu met in Damascus today with his Syrian Counterpart Bashar al Asad, the Romanian daily Adevarul reports. The main topic of discussion between the two has been the economic and energy cooperation between the two countries. After the meeting Basescu noted that there were plenty of options for economic cooperation between Romania and Syria, including in the energy field.

‘We discussed the topic for energy security in the context of Romania’s desire to secure additional reserves of coal’, Basescu said and noted that Romania participates in the Nabuco project.
