During his visit to the United Arab Emirates, in Abu Dhabi, State Secretary Anton Niculescu had meetings, on October 15, 2008, with Anwar Gargash, Minister of State for the relation with the Parliament, State Minister for foreign affairs, member in the UAE government, Ahmed Shabeeb Al Dhaheri, prime-vice-president of the National Federal Council (Parliament) and Mohammed Abdul Rahim Abdul Jalil, Under State Secretary within the MFA of the United Arab Emirates.
During the discussions, the high officials underlined the importance of the economic dimension of the bilateral relations and established certain measures in order to encourage the relations between the two countries. In this regard they expressed their wish for collaboration in order to increase the volume of trade exchanges between Romania and the UAE, by encouraging the investments and by supporting the state and private companies from the two countries to extend themselves on the two markets. The high officials considered the UAE is one of the most important destinations for the Romanian exporters in the Middle East, but they also expressed their conviction that, through mutual efforts, the level of economic relations may be further improved.
There also were an exchange of opinions concerning the main subjects on the international politic agenda, which concern both Romania and the United Arab Emirates (Middle East, Irak, Afghanistan, Georgia, etc).
