Renault to invest 600 mln euros in Romania in next 3 yrs - Romanian PM

PARIS (Thomson Financial) - French carmaker Renault SA plans to invest around 600 million euros over the next three years in Romania, Romanian Prime Minister Calin Tariceanu said.

News agency Mediafax cited a speech by Tariceanu at the opening of a new Renault plant in the southern region of the country.

It quoted Tariceanua as saying he had talks with the general manager of Renault Romania, Francois Fourmont, about the automaker's investment projects, but gave no further details.

Earlier Tuesday, Renault opened a new gearbox plant in Romania and Interfax cited Renault officials as saying investments at the plant will total 214 million euros by the end of 2010.
