Spain's Renovables signs wind deal in Romania

MADRID, Feb 12 (Reuters) - Spain's Iberdrola Renovables IBR.MC said on Tuesday it has signed a contract giving it the right to purchase a portfolio of around 50 wind parks in eastern Romania for as much as 300 million euros ($436 million).

The wind parks, owned by Dobrogea (Schweiz) AG - a company owned by Swiss engineering group NEK and Romania's Rokura - have total capacity of around 1,600 megawatts.

The parks are currently in different stages of development with the first expected to come into production in 2009. (Reporting by Joe Ortiz; Editing by Ben Harding)
