PRIVATE PENSION CONTRIBUTIONS TO REACH 0.19 PCT/GDP IN 2008

Contributions to mandatory private pension funds to start next year under Romania's pension system reform will reach 835 million lei ($349 million), or 0.19 percent of gross domestic product in 2008 and 1.8 billion lei in 2010, acording to an estimate from the finance and economy ministry.

The government will cover the deficit from the contributions' transfer to the private sector through long term debt issues.
