NRA sets agenda for Romania

ACC – BUCHAREST. Dan Cristian Georgescu, the president of Romania’s National Regulatory Authority (NRA), has said that the country will not put into practice regulations coming from Brussels if they do not apply to the Romanian reality.

Speaking at the12th Romanian Cable Communications Association (ACC) convention in Bucharest, he was also critical of the still low VOD and PPV penetration in the country and said the NRA would instigate moves in the next two years to improve competition. At present UPC and RCS/RDS, Romania’s two leading cable operators, provide services on a near-monopoly basis in the areas they are present in.
