President of Iceland Olafur Ragnar Grimsson is currently on an official visit to Romania to discuss, among other issues, potential cooperation on energy with President Traian Basescu, said reports reaching here from Reykjavik on Thursday.
The presidents had a long discussion Wednesday about opportunities for Icelandic companies to participate in economic development in Romania, and development in general, newspaper Morgumbladid reported.
Representatives of 25 Icelandic companies accompanied Grimsson on his trip, including people from banks, investment, construction, urban development, and energy harnessing companies.
Basescu reportedly emphasized that Icelandic companies were welcome to Romania because the country needed powerful business associates. The Romanian government believes Iceland's experience could be useful for Romania in many ways.
