(BUCHAREST) - Romania will hold its first elections to the European Parliament on November 25, Prime Minister Calin Tariceanu said Wednesday, ending months of suspense.

"The eyes of Europe will be on us and the government will take all necessary measures to pass this test without any problems," Tariceanu told a press conference in Bucharest.

The government initially set the election date for May 13 but later postponed it, owing to the "tense political climate," at the height of an ongoing feud between Tariceanu and President Traian Basescu.
