Amec acquires consultancy firm in Romania

UK-based engineering services giant Amec has further expanded its environmental services capabilities in Europe with the acquisition Agraro Consult, based in Bucharest, Romania. The acquisition will enhance Amec's position in the Romanian and Eastern European environmental market. Agraro will join Amec's Earth and Environmental business in Europe, which operates from offices in Frankfurt, Munich, Berlin, Kaiserslautern, Milan, Rotterdam and Seville.

Current projects range from a soil and groundwater investigation for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Constanta, Romania to environmental impact assessments for OMV Petrom, the largest investor in oil and gas infrastructure in Romania, and for the Rosia Montana Gold Corporation proposed gold mine in western Transylvania, the largest such mine in Europe.
