Romania's ruling party names Cioroianu as new foreign minister

People's Daily Online

Romanian Prime Minister Calin Tariceanu said on Monday his ruling Liberal party has nominated Adrian Cioroianu as the new foreign minister.

Tariceanu said that Adrian Cioroianu was the only candidate the Liberal party deemed suitable.

Senator Cioroianu, a 40-year-old historian, will succeed Mihai-Razvan Ungureanu, who announced his resignation on Feb. 5 but was asked by Tariceanu to remain until his successor is in place.
